About MyChart

What is WakeMed MyChart?

WakeMed MyChart is a free, secure online patient portal available to individuals who have been or are currently a patient of WakeMed or WakeMed Physician Practices. By signing up for MyChart, all WakeMed patients have the ability to:

  • View test results

Will I see test results?

WakeMed MyChart is a free, secure online patient portal available to individuals who have been or are currently a patient of WakeMed or WakeMed Physician Practices. By signing up for MyChart, all WakeMed patients have the ability to:

Will I have access during a hospital stay?

MyChart switches to an inpatient stay view when a patient is admitted to the hospital. Patients have real-time access to provider notes, test results, medications, their daily schedule as well as information about their care team. Patients can also share access to their account to allow a loved one or family member to help manage their care while they are in the hospital.

Enrollment Questions

How do I sign up?

To be eligible for WakeMed MyChart, you must be age 13 or older and have been a patient of WakeMed or WakeMed Physician Practices. There are several ways to sign up for MyChart.

  • Direct Link: Your provider’s office or care team can send you a direct link. Simply ask your care provider or office support staff to send you a direct link to sign up. This is the easiest and fastest way to activate your account.
  • Activation Code: An activation code is printed on your After Visit Summary. You can use this activation code to sign up by visiting MyChart.WakeMed.org and selecting Sign Up Now.
  • Request an Account: You can request an account online by visiting MyChart.WakeMed.org, selecting Sign Up Now and Sign Up Online. Alternatively, you can call our MyChart Help Desk at 919-350-2288, Monday-Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm

My child is less than 13 years of age. How can I access their account?

You will need to set up a MyChart account to gain access to your child’s MyChart account. Follow the steps above to activate your account. Once your account is activated, navigate to Request Proxy for Ages 12 and Younger in the menu. Note, all patients ages 13 and older are required to have their own MyChart account. On the child’s 13th birthday, proxy or shared access to the account will default to a limited view.

My access code does not work. What should I do?

For your security, your activation code expires after 14 days and is only valid for one-time use. Please contact the location where the code was issued or to request a new code. You can also call (919)350-2288 for assistance.

Why do I need to provide an email address?

Your email address is required to activate your account. We will send emails to your personal email address to notify you that you have new WakeMed MyChart messages or that new information has been added to your chart. Messages sent to your personal email will not contain personal health information.

Your Medical Record

Where can I update my personal information (e.g. home address, email, etc.)?

Once you log into your account, select the "Your Menu" tab and select “Personal Information” from the menu page.

Who can view WakeMed MyChart records?

  • You: WakeMed patients can access WakeMed MyChart records after you establish a login and password using your one-time use activation code.
  • Your Loved Ones & Caregivers: WakeMed MyChart users can establish proxy or shared access themselves for loved ones and family members to help manage their health care. Establishing proxy access means that you are sharing your health information with another individual, so they will be able to see scheduled appointments, communication from providers, test results, visit notes and more. You can establish proxy or shared access by logging in to MyChart and selecting “Share My Record” from the menu. This shared access can be removed at any time but the MyChart account holder.
  • Your WakeMed Physicians and Care Providers: Your WakeMed physicians, care providers and financial specialists have access to portions of your WakeMed MyChart records.

What is our privacy policy?

MyChart for My Family

Can I view a family member's medical record in MyChart?

Yes, you can. MyChart proxy access allows you to access the medical records of your family members and others you care for, with their permission. You must be at least 18 years old to have proxy access to another person's medical record.

You might also want to grant a family member or friend access to your medical records when you need assistance managing your appointments and other medical needs. To give someone access to your medical record, grant access via a proxy invite through the Sharing Hub page in MyChart.

No, due to the sensitive nature of medical information, each person must have their own MyChart account.

I forgot my login or password. What should I do?

You may recover your login or reset your password. If you need additional help logging in, please contact (919)350-2288.Please contact your WakeMed Physician Practices physician's office or call (919) 350-2288 if you believe your password has been compromised.

How secure is MyChart?

WakeMed MyChart is very secure. Your information is encrypted and only authorized users who have been verified through an activation process can have access.

How do I terminate my account?

To close a WakeMed MyChart account, please contact your WakeMed Physician Practices physician's office or call (919) 350-2288. Be sure to include the termination date and reason for termination in your message.

Can I access MyChart on mobile devices?

Yes. In fact, using the MyChart App is the best way to access your MyChart account.Once you have established a WakeMed MyChart account, you can gain convenient mobile access by using the mobile application, which is available for downloaded through GooglePlay and the Apple App store. Once downloaded, select 'WakeMed MyChart' as your healthcare provider for access to your account.
