The animated version of the Spider-man franchise has taken quite a turn lately, and this has ended well for its production as well as its popularity. Spider-man animation versions of the story used to have a mini-series that ran for some seasons. But when the Spider-Verse story became animated, it was in the form of a movie instead.

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse features Miles Morales and is a sequel to Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse, which was earlier released in 2018. It continues the storyline set in the multiverse of the alternate universes that have come to be known as the Spider-Verse.

It is at this point that Miles meets Gwen Stacy or Spider-Woman across the multiverse together with a new team of Spider-People or the Spider society led by Miguel O’Hara to be known as Spider-Man 2099 but ends up in conflict with them over handling a new threat.

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse Ending Explained.

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse starts off with Gwen Stay on Earth 65 as she struggles to live up to the expectations of her police captain father, who still remain oblivious to her identity as Spider-Woman. A few years before, Gwen had accidentally killed her bests friend, Peter Parker, when he was having a mindless rampage as the Lizard, and the police have been hunting her ever since then.

Gwen headed to the Guggenheim Museum one night in Manhattan after she heard of reports of an intruder and encountered a version of the Vulture from an Italian Renaissance-themed alternate universe. Then Spider-People Miguel O’Hara and Jessica Drew arrived through portals generated by watches to help Gwen subdue the Vulture.

After this, Miguel O’Hara offered Gwen membership into the Spider Society when his father found out about his identity as Spider-Woman and attempted to arrest her but Gwen ended up escaping with the Spider Society through a portal. The story development was well set, as was the ending and the build-up towards the upcoming installment. So this time, let’s hope there won’t be any interruptions and we will be able to get the next one in its scheduled time.

Threatened Rupture of The Multiverse

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse ended up drifting a bit from its title in terms of the storyline. So even though it was a sequel, it felt like something brand new and ended on what most fans found to be an emotional cliffhanger, and they managed to set up a major showdown for the next installment. It is one of those films that end on a ‘to be continued note,’ so it is quite something for the fans as they will have to wait yet for another year in order to get something new.

Throughout most of the film, Miles has been moved across the multiverse, meeting the Spider Society and trying to stop the bad thing from happening across the multiverse. But things got interesting when the true motive of the Spider Society was. The identity of every member of the society has been unique, featuring the likes of Spider-Punk and Peter B. Parker.

One thing they have in common is that they got their powers through spider bites, then lost an important friend or mentored early in their superhero days, and at one point, they ended up trying and failing to save a police captain. But once one of the Spider Society has a timeline that diverges from this, then a rupture is created in the multiverse that ends up threatening its very existence.

Miles Canon Event

Miles was devastated to find out about the storyline behind each spider person because he had not come across any of their experiences except that he got his spider powers in the same way. But now that his father will soon be promoted to the police captain, he has been worrying that his fate might be heading towards his own canon event at one of the Spider-Man’s. But it was different for him, and it was rather something that had never appeared amongst the Spider Society.

Miles tries to escape the Spider Society and heads home to his dimension. But things never go as he planned or expected when he discovers that he was never supposed to be bitten by a spider that gave him his powers. The spider that bit him had accidentally crossed over into his dimension, inadvertently giving him his spider powers.

So instead of reaching his original dimension, he ended up in one where he was not bitten by the spider and had no Spider-man in it. While in that parallel universe, Miles was shocked to learn that his father had died, but his late uncle was still alive. Even more to his surprise was that the Miles from that universe has turned into a life of crime and is known as the Prowler.

Miles vs. The Prowler

After Miles heard about the Prowler, who is himself from another Spider-Man dimension but as a villain, Miguel, Jessica, and Scarlet Spider traveled to Earth 1610, where Gwen Assembled a Spider-team to find Miles, who has been missing. They were still unaware that he had strayed from his original dimension into the one with the Prowler, so from this point onward, we can all tell that a huge war was brewing.

This has been as far as the revealed action goes, so for the most part, the film was worth it and received a good reception from the fans. But the fact that we have to wait a bit longer might make the film count as a cliffhanger. But at least for now, we have all the facts together, and the stage is set for the final war against the Prowler.

This is clear because the motives of the Spider-society across the multiverse have been to fight crime. But now Miles, as one of them, is faced with the worst enemy in the form of himself. Also, the fact that his other self has resorted to crime and would take an entire Spider-team to stop then it shows how powerful of a criminal the Prowler has become.

Spider-Man Beyond The Spider-Verse will be released on March 29, 2024. This will be the sequel to Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse, which left us right at the beginning of yet another multiversal war. Miles has just found out that the Prowler is a big-time criminal, and worst, it is him from another dimension.

So it is just a matter of time before he tries to stop him from his ways. The Prowler reigns in a world with no Spider-Man or superheroes, so he has been conducting his crime syndicate without any interruption. On the other hand, Gwen and her Spider team have assembled, trying to find where Miles is.

So this has been the build-up to ‘Spider-Man Beyond The Spider-Verse,’ and it all spells war. One thing to note here is how powerful the Prowler is, and it is already obvious that he has established his own crime syndicate that has ruled without much opposition. Now they will be going to war with the Spider Society, a war between good and evil, so all that will be explored in the upcoming Spider-Man Beyond The Spider-Verse film.
